Considering all this, he ordered his servants to
cover the roads in the whole country with leather so
that the people of his kingdom could walk comfortably
The king's ministers were stunned to hear his order as
it would mean that thousands of cows would have to
be slaughfered in order to get suficient quantity of
leather. It would cost a huge amount of money too.

Finally, a wise man from the ministry came to the
king and said that he had another idea. The king asked
what the alternative was. The minister said, "Instead
of covering the roads with leather, why don't you just
have a piece of leather cut in an appropriate shape to
cover your feet? The king was very much surprised

The following text is for questions 75 to 78.

Changes in weather are related to changes in
pressure in the atmosphere. As warm air rises, it creates
low-pressure zones with clouds and rain. By contrast
cool air sinks, resulting in high pressure, which stops
clouds from forming, making the weather fine. You can
measure these changes with a simple barometer
You'll need:
* short plank of wood roughly 15cm wide and smal
wooden block
*strong glue
*large glass bottle with screw cap
*15cm thin transparent tube (stiff plastic straw)
*duct tape
*index card
*modelling clay
*mineral oil (such as baby oil)

Steps:
1. Glue the block to one end of the plank
2. Tape the bottle to the plank with the mouth about
10cm from the block
3. Insert the tube into the bottle, leaving it just above
the block, and seal it to the mouth with modelling
clay
4. Slip the bottle cap under the end of the tube so
that it forms a small cup, with the tube ending just
above the bottom
5. Glue a blank index card behind the tube. Fill the
cup with mineral oil. Some of the oil will creep up
the tube.
6. Carefully carry your barometer to a cool
place and support it upright
7. Mark the oil levels on the card from day to day.
Higher air pressure raises the level of oil in the
tube - good weather. If pressure is low, rain may
be on the way

The following text is for questions 79 to 82

Goji berries are dried fruits of two species of
boxthorn-Lycium barbarum and L. chinense. The
Lycium genus belongs to the family Solanaceae to
which tomatoes and potatoes also belong. On a tree
goji berries hang from branches in stalked clusters of
three to six, like little red tubes with rounded ends, up
to four-fifths of an inch long and about half of
an inch wide. Each berry contains between ten and
sixty tiny yellow seeds.
The harvested fruit are not found in fresh from
outside their area of growth. Virtually all are dried
immediately after harvesting in a careful way to avoid
bruising the berries, although the extent of the drying
process may differ between areas. The dried fruit can
be cooked or boiled and used in soups or as flavourings
in meat dishes with other herbs
However, since 2000, there has been
a considerable effort on the part of commercial growers
in China, Tibet and some Himalayan regions to publicize

The following text is for questions 83 to 86.

Frost flowers are delicate, beautiful ribbons of ice
crystals that form on the lower stems of a few species
of Missouri native plants. Frost flowers occur only in
late fall after the first few hard freezes and while the
ground is still warm. Their season is brief and they
disappear quickly on the day they occur, melting like
frost when the air warms or rays of sunlight fall on the
delicate structures,
While the plants' stems are ruptured by the first
hard freeze, the root system is still sending up a plant
sap from the warmer ground. The sap pushes through
the broken stem and freezes on contact with the cold
air. As more saps move up, it forces the freezing stream
of white ice crystals into ornate, folded ribbons that
look like petals, puffs of cotton candy, or snarls of white
thread
Missouri plants are known to produce frost flowers
including dittany (Cunila origanoides), stinkweed
(Pluchea camphorate is not widespread in Missouri)
and white crownbeard (Verbesina virginica) Scientists
don't know what it is about these species that allow
them to produce frost flowers. Perhaps their root
systems are more active later in the year than other
species, or their stems rupture in just the right way to
force the ribbons of sap. Whatever the reason is, frost
flowers only appear on the stems of a few species.

Butterfly fish is a generally small sized species of
marine fish, found in tropical and subtropical waters,
primarily around coral reefs. It is well known for its
brightly coloured body and elaborate markings. There
are more than 100 different species of butterfly fish
distributed throughout the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific
oceans
The average butterfly fish is fairly small and
generally grows to around 4 or 5 inches in length. Several
species, however, are known to grow to 8 inches (20cm)
long and a few individuals have been known to grow to
30 cm in length. It can live for up to 7 years old in the
wild.
Butterfly fish is a diurnal animal, which means that
it feeds during the day and rests in the coral during the
night. Most species of butterfly fish feed on the plankton
in the water, coral and sea anemones and occasionally
snack on small crustaceans.
The fish releases eggs into the water which form
part of the plankton. When the eggs hatch, the baby
fish (known as fry) develop armoured plates on their
bodies to protect them when they are so vulnerable.
As the butterfly fish gets older, these plates disappear
Butterfly fish is considered to be an endangered
animal mainly as the population has been threatened
due to water pollution and habitat loss. The destruction
of coral reets occurs mainly from boats, and without
their coral habitats, the fish are difficult to survive as
they have less food and are also more exposed to predator.
